RecipesWelcome to our recipes page! I (Carla) taught myself how to cook after I figured out that Doug likes to eat. Since then, it has become a favorite activity of mine! Below you will find some of our favorite recipes. Often I will find a recipe and tweak it a little to fit with what Doug and I like or what I have in my pantry. I have included where the original (pre-tweaking) came from. Some recipes also have some general cooking tips that I have learned. It's quite fascinating to learn how foods interact with each other! Many of these recipes call for whole wheat flour. I grind my own flour from wheat berries (yes, people still do that) using an electric grinder called the Whisper Mill. I do not use white flour at all. To learn more about milling your own flour, check out the Bread Beckers web site. They have several articles about the health benefits. They also sell the stuff you'll need to get started with this. We began milling our own wheat (and baking our own whole wheat bread products) in September, 2001. We will NEVER go back to using white flour! If you're interested, you can read about How (and Why) We Started Grinding Our Own Wheat. Note: These recipes are formatted so that you may print them easily from this web site.
